Year 12 Summer Music Video Project 2016

Posted on Updated on

Your task over the next 2 1/2 weeks is to make a parody, pastiche or homage of one of the following iconic summer music videos.

You will have to plan, film and edit your video and have it ready by the one before last lesson of Media this term.  Having done your AS coursework you will already know that there is more to making a media film than just pointing the camera at something, and that you will have to plan your time carefully.

You may work on your own or in a group of up to 4.

The best work will earn credit slips and chocolate for the group and a brew for the whole class.  There is only one end of term brew available.

Parody – an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect.

Pastiche – an artistic work in a style that imitates that of another work, artist, or period.  More respectful than parody.

Homage – Anything done to show respect, honour or show reverence to someone or something.

(Tip to get started – pick your video and create a storyboard of it).

Can’t Stop the Feeling – Justin Timberlake (video 1)

Video 2

Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen – Baz Luhrmann

Happy – Pharrell Williams

Summer Nights – Grease

Summertime – DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

Club Tropicana – Wham

Umbrella – Rihanna

Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars
